Take a look at some of the lingo of the game. This might vary some from region to region, but these are probably the words you will hear most often around the Cornhole boards. There are others that don’t come up as often as these, but this top ten list should help you fit in with any Cornhole crowd. If you have any more that you have heard, please share your comments.
- Ace or Cow Pie – A bag on the board for one point
- Blocker – A bag on the board keeping a bag from scoring
- Cornhole – A bag in the hole for 3 points
- Back Door – A Cornhole that scores over a blocker
- Dirty Bag – A bag that touches the ground before the board
- Double Deuce – Four Cornhole’s in a row from one player in one round
- Honors – The name for the team that scored last or throws first
- Lipper or Hanger – A bag that is hanging an ready to drop in the hole.
- Sally, Suzy, Mary (you get the idea) – A throw that doesn’t make it to the board
- Skunk – A game with an 11-0 score

I have heard and used ‘Backstop’ quite a bit. Similar to ‘Blocker’ it denotes a bag that slides/lands past the hole but on the board – making a nice target for a slider to knock into without falling off the back.
Goocher – make all four bags in the hole (better name than “double deuce”)
How about a cornhole schedule puzzle. What if you wanted to schedule a cornhole tournament and had 16 players and 4 courts.
Each player will play with and against every other player once only, and each player will play in 15 of the 16 possible court positions.
Who’s got the answer?
